Ludacris Has His Own Cognac Brand  ATL Rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges has launched a new cognac from Birkedal Hartmann that will be specifically targeted to the “hip urban market”. Luda is following suit to rap moguls such as Sean Combs, Jay-Z, and Dr. Dre. He spoke of his plans to launch “CONJURE”, a custom line of Cognac, at the wine and spirits trade show Vinexpo The Atlana rapper/actor says he wants to be part of every step of the alcohol-making process and has already been on a brandy-tasting trip to sample the different varieties available. Bow Wow Released From Label  Yesterday Bow Wow confirmed that his label Columbia Records has released him from his contract, giving him what he had been asking for. Earlier this month Bow Wowbegged his then label to release him saying the label just wasn't working for him. "Wanna thank them for the release," Bow Wowwrote on his twitter. "and also thank them 4 err thang. i made all my hits with them. and i have nothing bad 2 say about em. luv...10 top 10 records, 10 million sold, tours etc...thanks. now im able to expand and take things to another level. my fans get ready its on now! Joe Budden Calls Out Battles & Says He Raps Better Than 90% Of Emcees  Even though Budden says he has respect for the pioneers in hip hop, Joe continued on about the difference in paying tribute and challenging someone, after he once challenged Method Man and Vibe's "Best Rapper Alive" list. No in a new interview, Budden explains, "Method Man, Redman, Wu-Tang, they happened to be some of the people who paved the way for Joe Budden to get here," Joe goes on, "Which is why I get it, I understand what the uproar is about. I still didn't think me saying it would cause such an uproar...My statement still stands, I still out-rap 90 percent of the n*ggas that rap and I'm mad it turned into a Joe Budden versus Method Man thing because like I said, it was not directed towards Method Man. It was a comment but I said his name and I shouldn't have because I was talking to a large amount of people that were on that list...And furthermore, I wasn't just talking, I said I could prove it and nobody has sent a bar my way yet...Anybody can say what they want in an interview, I don't pay interviews no mind. Hip Hop For HIV Awareness  In efforts to educate people about HIV/AIDS, Houston hip-hop radio station KBXX-FM 97.9 The Box will sponsor a free concert. The station has teamed up with The Houston Department of Health and Human Services, Amerigroup Community Care, as well as the city's AIDS Foundation and NAACP branch to launch the Hip Hop For HIV Awareness campaign. Hip Hop For HIV Awareness is the largest testing event in the United States. The goal of the campaign is to provide free and confidential HIV and syphilis screening to 15,000 youth and young adults between the ages of 15-40 in the Houston area. The free testing is for four consecutive days at the NAACP Family Technology Center located at 4203 Fannin Street in Houston and will continue at various other locations across the city through July 10th. Everyone who gets tested will receive a free ticket to the July 11th show at George R. Brown Convention Center, which features Plies, Bun B, Twista, Yung LA, Gorilla Zoe, Day26, Bobby Valentino, LeToya Luckett and Ginuwine. Ginuwine 06/17/2009
Ginuwine Talks Suicide And Drug Addiction Ginuwine, born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, recently admitted that, at one point in his career, he contemplated suicide and battled drug addiction. "After my father shot himself to death and my mother died from cancer less than a year later, I really didn't want to be here anymore, I didn't want to live and tried to commit suicide more than once", confessed the 33 year-old singer, "there was no one around that I really loved at the time, so I turned to the drinking and drugs like weed and ecstasy. I was done mentally and emotionally to the point that I had to go see a psychiatrist, but that didn't do any good because I wasn't interested. In fact, the two times I visited him I was high. I was depressed and felt like I had nobody to talk to that could relate to me". "I had one friend who intervened and begged me to get help. Even though I didn't continue with my therapy, I went to church and received counseling from my pastor and got straight spiritually. I was able to turn away from all those things that were destroying me and finally think clearly. I had to ask myself whether or not I wanted to go out like my dad and have my kids hurt the way I was hurting," said Ginuwine.
