"Sean Bell's" Killers Might Have Been Acquitted In The Past But The City Is Pay'n $7.15 Mill Out Dat Ass
Sean Bell's dad lashed out Wednesday at a top police union official who called his dead son drunk and suggested he brought on his own demis
William Bell told the Daily News he is outraged that detectives union President Michael Palladino called the $7 million wrongful death settlement in the 50-bullet shooting case "an absolute joke."
"He thinks life is a joke," the angry dad fumed. "I don't think life is a joke."
Palladino lambasted the taxpayer-funded deal, saying Tuesday that "Bell was intoxicated and tried to run [the cops] over." The cops who killed the would-be groom on his wedding day outside a Queens strip club were "doing their lawful duty," he said.
Palladino stood by those words yesterday: "The settlement was excessive and disregards Sean Bell's actions and culpability," he said.
The deal capped a four-year legal battle waged by Bell's fiancée and his two pals, who were wounded in the hail of 50 police bullets that took his life.
As part of the deal, the city will fork over $3.25 million to Bell's family estate.
The cash will be put into a trust for Bell's two daughters - Jada, 7, and Jordyn, 4 - controlled by their mother, Nicole Paultre Bell.
Bell's friends, Joseph Guzman, 35, who was shot 11 times, will receive $3 million and Trent Benefield, 27, who was hit three times, will get $900,000.
Bell was gunned down outside the Club Kalua strip club in Jamaica Queens on Nov. 25, 2006, hours before he was to be married.
The groom-to-be was in a car leaving his bachelor party with Guzman and Benefield when undercover cops unloaded on them.
Three detectives involved in the shooting Michael Oliver, March Cooper and Gescard Isnora were acquitted of manslaughter and reckless endangerment in 2008.
Ex NBA player, Lorenzen Wright, 34 was found dead in wooded area outside of Memphis, after being missing for 10 days. It is being reported that his body was riddled with multiple gunshot wounds. Wright’s family revealed he was suppose to catch a flight out of Memphis on July 18.

His family confirms Wright, who played for the University of Memphis, the Grizzlies and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers, has been having financial problems.
Wright recently had two homes, one in Memphis and one in Atlanta, foreclosed on.
A 911 call was placed from his phone on the night of July 19th at 1:00am in which at least 10 gunshots could be heard. Some reports identify this as a homicide while others indicate that Wright’s wounds could have been self-inflicted. A spokesperson for the Collierville Police Department originally said they have no reason to suspect foul play.

Pharrell explain his reasoning behind the name of his group N.E.R.D. :
EHRLICH: Pharrell, your group, N.E.R.D, is an acronym for “No one ever really dies.” The Buddha, who was, in a way, also a neuroscientist, said that matter can never come from non-matter, and consciousness can never come from non-consciousness—meaning he felt there was a scientific basis for the principle of rebirth, because in the material world, everything we can observe transforms. Trees die and they turn into soil, the soil might run into the sea, the sea could evaporate into clouds, et cetera. So nothing really disappears. Is that what you meant when you said “No one ever really dies?”
WILLIAMS: That is what I meant, for sure, one hundred percent. I’m not sure what happens before you get here or when you leave, but I know that while we are here, we are these animate, mobile beings, and there’s certainly electricity flowing through our bodies. Interestingly, I’ll add, our bodies are about 75 percent water—much like the planet. There’s electricity that comes from us, hence dragging your feet across carpet and touching the doorknob, you know what happens?
EHRLICH: You get shocked.
WILLIAMS: Yeah, that’s right. And that’s energy! So there is proof. If you had to run a simple test, that’s the easiest one to do. There is electricity going through us. That is an example of one facet of the energy that we harness as beings. When I was coming up with that name, I wanted to celebritize being smart, because I noticed that being a nerd when I was in high school was the corniest thing you could ever do. But for me, I was like, “Those are the guys that grow up and drive BMWs! I don’t get it!” So I was like, “You know what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna take my music and I’m going to slowly but surely punch away at that notion that being a nerd is not cool.” Being smart? I want to work that up, and that’s what our aim was, and I couldn’t find a better acronym.
Einstein said energy can’t be destroyed, it can only be conjured and spread—I’m not even sure if you can create it—and so therefore, if we know that our bodies are filled with energy, when the flesh dies, what happens to the soul? It’s gotta go somewhere. I don’t know where it goes, I don’t have the proof to speak blindly on the phone in this interview, but that’s it. That part I’m sure of: No one ever really dies.

"Janet Jackson" is not the first to get their for on for "BlackGlama" she joins heavy hitters Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor, Lena Horne and Lauren Bacall. PETA had an issue with the fur in the campaign and started in on what they do best besides advocate for animal rights.
“It’s amazing what celebrities will do when their careers are on a downslide, but we didn’t think that JANET was this desperate,” spokeswoman Amanda Schinke said in a statement. “Surely she knows enough about suffering and unjustified death to recognize that both occur in the production of a fur coat. We are asking her to think again and to donate these stolen skins to be used as bedding for animals orphaned by other human-caused disasters, such as loss of habitat.”
To further their jab at the fur-wearing singer, the animal rights organization’s senior vice president, Dan Mathews, sent Jackson a letter questioning her arguable choice.
“You and I spoke at length about the fur issue,” Mathews wrote to Jackson. “You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message. You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
