The 32-year-old "Plaxico Burress", the receiver who was dropped from the New York Giants, plead guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon. "Burress" was sentenced Sept. 22nd with a two year sentence but with time off for good behavior, "Burress" probably will serve 20 months. He will be monitored during an additional two years of supervised release.

"Plaxico" was at a club called Latin Quarter, in midtown Manhattan. "Burress" said he was in the club for about five minutes when a crowd of people began to gather around him. At that point, he said club personnel asked if he wanted to go to an upstairs room to "relax" and get away from others. As he was walking upstairs, Burress said he missed a step and the gun began to slide down his pantleg. Burress said he reached to stop it from hitting the ground when he accidentally pulled the trigger through his pants and shot himself in the leg.The bullet went through the skin and muscle tissue of Burress' right thigh and did not hit any major arteries, and that there were no broken bones.

I think that Mayor Michael Bloomberg was doing way tooooooo much when a man driving drunk and kills a man can get 30 days and "Burress" shot himself and gets two years. Unfortunately rapist, robbers and child molesters get less than this.

You have people like "Donte Stallworth" who pleaded guilty in June to DUI manslaughter. He had a blood-alcohol level of .126, above Florida’s .08 legal limit. "Stallworth" was given a 30-day jail sentence and reached an undisclosed financial settlement with Reyes’ family. Besides jail time, "Stallworth’s" sentence included two years of house arrest, eight years of probation and other restrictions.
