For The First Time In 43 Years
The New Orleans Saints Are Going To The Super Bowl To Face The Indianapolis Colts
So it's the New Orleans Saints vs, the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010 XLIV Super Bowl. The Colts beat the Jests 30-17 so, it will be brother vs brother. (Who didn't see this coming?) The Mannings are New Orleans royalty. Have been since Papa Archie was the QB for the Saints in the ‘70s. The same Saints who Peyton Manning, the NFL’s only four-time MVP, and brother Eli Manning worshipped the Saints as kids and are now shooting for their first championship in their first Super Bowl as another step in the long recovery from the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.
The wining kick went instead to Hartley, a 23-year-old Texan who missed the first four games of the season when he was suspended for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
The Saints won the coin toss in overtime, elected to receive and kept their winning drive alive when Payton, on fourth-and-1 from the Vikings’ 43, sent Pierre Thomas diving over the line for a first down.
The Saints got the ball on the Minnesota 29, worked to the 22 and then called for Hartley for the field goal kick that won the game, who said he turned away after his foot made contact and did not even bother to watch the ball. And as you know he made a field goal from the 40 yard line. (What A Game!)
