UK producer Endemic presents the music video for "High Society", his new single featuring Queens rapper Tragedy Khadafi and Brooklyn emcees Afu Ra and Ruste Juxx. A native of the United Kingdom regarded as one of the country's foremost hiphop producers, Endemic recently moved to New York City via a USA O-1 artist visa for “persons of extraordinary ability”. "High Society" is the first single from his forthcoming album Terminal Illness 2, which will also feature Masta Killa, Roc Marciano, Cappadonna, Planet Asia, Skyzoo, DJ Switch, Bronze Nazareth, Kevlaar 7, Salute Da Kidd, P.R. Terrorist, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Shabazz The Disciple, Bugsy Da God, Cyrus Malachi, Tesla's Ghost, Ray Vendetta, Sav Killz, Supreme, Darkim be Allah, Prodigal Sunn, William Cooper and M9.
TI2 is the followup to the 2009 Money Maker/EMI release Terminal Illness, which featured Sean Price as well as UK artists C Mone and Triple Darkness, and received radio play from DJ Premier. In 2010 Duck Down Records released Adamantine, Endemic's collaboration record with Ruste Juxx which featured General Steele of Smif N Wessun and Ill Bill. “This song was started when me & Tragedy Khadafi started to work," says Endemic about the new single. "He actually wanted to do the whole song and use it for his next album but I loved the beat and wanted it for TI2. It has that kind of vibe, we then confirmed Ruste & Afu to get on there and you have a potential NYC classic joint!" Regarding Endemic, Tragedy says “Endemic is more than a beat maker or producer; he actually understands how to marry an MC to his sound, that’s more than hip hop – that profound!” Terminal Illness 2 drops November 26 on No Cure Records.
"Sacramento" Rapper "Tynethys"
"Strawberry Letter 316" (Official Video)
Sacramento producer Tynethys and Indie rap artists Main Attrakionz release a new video for "Strawberry Letter 316" a track off their latest self titled mixtape Main Attrakionz x Tynethys. "We got lit in two different cities (Sacramento,CA and San Leandro, CA) with 2 different cameras on the same day to bring you this vid," Tynethys explained. The video features Tynethys rapping in the middle of a neighborhood development with Main Attrakionz appearing later in the video scened at a basketball court.
Main Attrakionz x Tynethys, released Oct. 22 , had its first single "On1." premiered by Pitchfork, and its final single "USB," premiered on Brooklyn Vegan. The mixtape was also featured on The Fader's weekly "Mixtape Saturday" article, described as "an airy, narcotic project that floats along and passes in a blur."
To hear him tell it, Sacramento's Tynethys' (pronounced "Teen-this") musical style is like "selling crack in a Sub-Zero outfit." For the MC/producer, Mortal Kombat is just one of his inspirations, along with local rap heroes Mac Dre, C-Bo and T-Nutty. Producing and writing his songs in the hours between midnight and sunrise, Tynethys is a jovial, pensive creator with a stoner's laugh and street vernacular. Tyne's style is a fuzzy free-form that speaks not only to his worldview from his bedroom, but many like him. With the forthcoming Thyluxe Edition follow-up to last year's Lost Angeles album, Tynethys believes he's hitting his best stride. "I feel like it is the truest representation of me. I did it without trying too hard." Besides his own work, Tynethys appeals to many collaborators. He has recently released a project with Oakland duo Main Attrakionz. "I really fucked with these dudes. They came to Sacramento, and I literally showed up at their hotel room with a lab," recalls T.P., who arrived with a portable studio. Having opened for Kendrick Lamar, Raekwon and Evidence, it's only a matter of time until Tynethys transports his sound around the globe. Recently, Tynethys released a collaborative album with Main Attrakionz titled Main Attrakionz x Tynethys.
"League of Extraordinary Gz" Ft. "Slim Gravy"
"Intercourse" (Official Video)
Before the release of their debut album, #LeagueShit, The League of Extraordinary Gz dropped the track "Intercourse," featuring Slim Gravy of A.Dd+. Now the Austin rap collective is releasing a video for the song, which Dowrong of the League described as, "Just letting females know that I ain't trying be in a relationship. I'm just trying to fuck." The video is directed by Jordan Haro, who also got his start in Austin, Texas. The League's Reggie Coby explains that they knew they wanted a video for "Intercourse" to be one of their first but it was Jordan Haro that initially reached out to them about joining forces in Texas.
Filmed in Austin, the video, premiered today by Prefix Mag, starts with a candy red slab full of girls pulling up to a drive thru window over the song's intro, "Is there a shorter word for Intercourse?" only to find Slim Gravy working at the window where he takes it away with his opening verse. "With this video we really didn't want to go with a cliche treatment that we could have easily done," says Reggie. "With our original treatment we had this key shot we continued to focus on which we felt was the center of the video. It was the part with Slim getting pulled through the drive thru window. It took us minute to even find a location with a drive thru that would allow us to shoot. But it worked out and Jordan made sure the execution of that scene happened."
When Austin, Texas, reality rap collective League of Extraordinary Gz recorded "We Gone Make It" in spring 2010, Octavis "Esbe Da 6th Street Bully" Berry stepped in the recording booth and yelled two words: "League Shit!". Three years later, it has become an emphatic anthem, brand and title. The Bully's vision formed in 2009 when his choice of eight members and three groups with their own budding local buzz - Dred Skott, Da COD and Southbound - sat in a driveway plotting a collaborative mixtape. In 2010 they debuted locally, played the South by Southwest Music Festival and Fun Fun Fun Fest and were featured on MTV Jams' Texas All-Star Edition. In 2011 they rocked over 60 shows, including a West Coast tour with Jackie Chain for their Concealed Weapons 3 mixtape, and a national tour with Dead Prez. Then, in October 2011, The Bully passed away suddenly due to a pulmonary embolism. As 2011 ended, the LOEGz were named one of Sonicbids' Top 5 Hip Hop acts. They released The Plug EP in December. All of this came from a collective effort by three groups in three years via the foresight of a now-absent leader. All anticipation, questions or doubt after a few spins of The Plug EP will be quenched with their debut album #LeagueShit. Clearly rooted in traditional hip hop, #LeagueShit includes stout musicality and wildly free speech featuring Dead Prez, Bavu Blakes, Grupo Fantasma, and Slim Gravy of A.Dd+.

The FADER premieres the video for "Where You Been?," the first official single from A.Dd+'s forthcoming album, DiveHiFlyLo. The album will be out later this year, and will serve as a culmination to all of the recent successes and accolades that the Dallas duo of Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun have been stacking up in the two years since the release of their breakout album When Pigs Fly, a project that earned praise from Pitchfork, found A.Dd+ on the cover of local alternative weekly the Dallas Observer, and ultimately put them on Red Bull-sponsored tours.
Given those successes, and all that the duo plans to accomplish in the coming months, it's fitting then that their comeback single, produced by DJ Burn One, first takes a jab back at those that may have forgotten about the duo in the time since When Pigs Fly. "They be like, where you been?/ I said I been around/ If you ain't fuck with me then/ Then don't fuck with me now" raps the duo on the track's screwed hook, perched against a car in the Jeff Adair-directed video.
The Cowboys, the Grassy Knoll, J.R. Ewing, the Stanky Leg... Dallas, Texas, is known for lots of things. Progressive, forward-thinking hip-hop has, until now, not been one of them. Quirky yet streetwise, fun-loving yet dead serious, A.Dd+, the duo of Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy, may just be leading the city towards a rap renaissance. With a recipe that falls somewhere between UGK's downhome Southern cooking and the abstract vibes of the Native Tongues movement, Paris (a.k.a. Arrias Walls) and Slim (Dionte Rembert) been labeled the "OutKast of Dallas." As Paris states on "The Rapper & The Poet," the lead track from A.Dd+'s debut LP, When Pigs Fly, the group strives to offer listeners "a double dose of reality mixed with tragedy mixed with immortality." They are preparing to release #DiveHiFlyLo later this year.
"Dallas, Texas" Duo "A.Dd+"
"Where You Been?"
"Rap" Duo "Full REBEL Jacket"
G and Q, together known as the Dallas-meets-Phoenix rap duo Full | REBEL | Jacket, premiered their self-directed video for their new track "27th" today on AllHipHop. The song itself, which according to Q is "inspired by the mind state of individuals who have bills coming on the 1st but are short on the '27th'", is an abrasive and energetic track. To see the duo sporting classy, button-up shirts in an elegant restaurant setting is a somewhat unexpected visual to pair with the aggressive song, but Full | REBEL | Jacket pull it off effortlessly.
When asked how the visuals tie into the song, G explains, "we wanted to create the duality of an elegant look with such a gritty song. The button-ups and ties give a certain elegance to such a ski mask record." Q adds, "plus, we thought it looked cool."
With edgy content and a unique rap style, Full |REBEL| Jacket is primed for the success they have long deserved. This underground Phoenix group has pioneered a sound they've coined as "Southern Sophisticated." Full |REBEL| Jacket is bringing a fresh perspective through their lyrics while the group's originality vibrates by means of their cultured beat selection and region defying styles. Their debut album The REBEL EP exemplifies the sound they seek to give fans and it shows the versatility of southern bred, west coast residing artists. Expect Full |REBEL| Jacket to soon be amongst raps elite.
"Chicago" Rapper "F.Stokes"
Chicago wordsmith F.Stokes shares a driving sense of purpose in the new video for "Shaka Zulu," a standout track from his recent album Fearless Beauty that was produced by Doomtree member Paper Tiger. Amid a grainy, grimy backdrop that is true to the Windy City, Stokes issues his rallying cry: "I'm fighting 'til we all free/Shaka Zulu."
"Location was everything," he muses when he looks back at the video. "This video was inspired, physically, by the landscape of my neighborhood, and how aesthetically and habitably the Southside of Chicago relates to an African jungle." This parallel extends beyond the physical street corner, into the psyches of the young men and women seen throughout the video: "I had to show the world the faces of those babies on the Southside of Chicago. I thought some of the closeups gave a reminder to the globe that even though the cloud of violence lingers, innocent resonates through the eyes of these young soldiers."
F.Stokes will be sharing his inspiration live this weekend when he performs at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, alongside legendary artists like DasEFX, Redman, Pusha T, EPMD, and others.
F.Stokes is a Chicago born and bred rapper and spoken word poet now based out of New York City. He tells his story with punctuating imagery and glass-like clarity as he looks at the world through the lens of his family's shared experiences. Growing up as one of six children to a single mother in the South Side of Chicago, he shared his home with people who lived on the edge of violent death, poverty, and ghosts of abuse and addiction. He found solace in writing early on in childhood and soon began to express himself creatively through verse and spoken word poetry as he grew into adolescence and early adulthood. In 2009 he began touring in Europe in preparation for the release of his first album, 2010's Death of a Handsome Bride. He quickly grew as a prolific artist, releasing the Baked Goods Mixtape in 2011 and Love Always in 2012. F.Stokes has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, The Essence Festival, and the Metropolis Festival in Holland. He has also cultivated a particularly strong fan base in the UK, where he recorded an EP with the band Bastille, and in Paris, where has sold out multiple shows and has been featured on Nova Radio. Stateside he has been featured in XXL Magazine, Source Online and HipHopDX, among others, and has toured with the likes of Ryan Leslie, Chall Tuna, Mac Lethal, Arrested Developed and Nas. Most recently he released his new album Fearless Beauty, which features production by Paper Tiger of Minneapolis indie hip-hop collective Doomtree, his most personal and political record to date. He will follow up the release with more tour dates in Europe, including the Independence Day Festival in France on July 4th.
"Bay Area" Rappers "Blanco" & "Jacka"
Ft. "Nipsey Hussle", "YG" & "Messy Marv"
Today the ever prolific Bay Area rapper Blanco premieres his latest track "Duck Hunt" featuring Nipsey Hussle, YG and Messy Marv. The track comes off his latest EP, Game Over, which is a collaboration album between Blanco and fellow Bay Area natives The Jacka and producer Bedrock. No newcomer to collaborative efforts, Blanco recently made his album with Nipsey Hussle, entitled Raw, available for free download.
"Duck Hunt" features a popping staccato drum track that percolates over a soft piano riff and chopped vocal samples, courtesy of Bedrock, which allows ample room for Blanco and his collaborators to delicately ride the eb and flow of the beat, creating a chill and ethereal vibe. The song is the perfect soundtrack for chilled out smoke sessions and cruising with the windows down in the heat, proving Blanco and The Jacka's latest effort is a must have for this summer's playlist.
Blanco (formerly Benny Blanco) is a rapper born in Berkeley, California but bred throughout the Bay Area. Fascinated by gangsta rap at an early age, Blanco began rhyming at 17. In 2004 he and his brother Winslow founded hip-hop label Guerilla Entertainment, which to date has released upwards of over 20 mixtapes and albums. As a member of rap trio The Yay Boyz with fellow label mates Taj-He-Spitz and Lil Hyfe, Blanco released Got Purp (Volumes 1 and 2), The Wizeguys, and full length album Nosebleed Muzic. He has gone on to release several solo projects, including Blanco's Way and American Pyscho, and more collaborative albums, including Jonestown with Messy Marv and Jacka, and his latest, Raw, with Nipsey Hussle. Blanco has also collaborated with Gucci Mane, Redman, Freeway, Freddie Gibbs and Styles P, and released projects with Araab Muzik and Yukmouth.
"Chicago" Songstress "Nylo"
"Breakfast At Tiffany's"
Future soul singer/songwriter Nylo shares her tender tribute to Audrey Hepburn, whom she considers "the most beautiful woman to ever grace the silver screen," with "Breakfast At Tiffany's," the third taste from her upcoming mixtape Indigo Summer, due July 16th. Her tenuous connection to that one faded lover she just can't shake is accentuated by her delicate and raw falsetto, a haunting force that weaves with producer Jerry Good's ethereal layers of instrumentation. The result is a thoughtful tableau-prodding but shy, guarded but still willing to expose Nylo's tempestuous soul. The track illustrates her uncanny ability to create an clear vibe in her own way - "Breakfast" holds a sense of dreamlike melancholy while still maintaining strands of hopefulness, avoiding the minor keys and instead relying on etheral vocals and lilting poetry to illustrate the tortured rawness of her expression toward the one figure from whom she cannot separate: "Sometimes, when I dream, / it just feels so real [...] Do you ever think of me now / it's been a couple of years / but everyone once in a while / it still feels like you're here."
VICE's Noisey premiered the track, noting how the combination of her vocals and the "lush, pillowy arrangements" leads the listener to reflect on life. Nylo gives a little guidance about the sort of reflection she is encouraging: "People, even more than things, need to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Never throw anyone out." Nylo's full project Indigo Summer will be released for free on July 16th.
Nylo is a singer/songwriter with a sound that can be best described as "Hybrid R&B," including elements of rhythm and blues, hip-hop, EDM and classic soul. Born and raised in Chicago, she started writing snippets in her notebooks and setting them to the music she created on a piano in her neighborhood church. As her musical journey brought her out to Los Angeles, Nylo caught the eyes and ears of a few key bloggers in 2012 when she released her five song EP Memories Speak. She has garnered comparisons to Aaliyah and Lauryn Hill, and was called music's best-kept secret. Nylo, however, won't be a secret much longer, as she counts stars Nas and Mac Miller as fans and supporters. Nas even called Nylo his "favorite new artist." She currently lives in California where she is putting the final touches on her next projects: Indigo Summer, which is slated for release on July 16th, and Indigo Rose, which will drop in the fall.
"Chicago" Rapper "Jahzel"
"In God's Image"
Chicago's musical landscape is built around clear binaries, just like the city from which it has grown. While Jahzel draws from the soulfulness of the city's musical past, he is focused on showing the full range of his artistic complexity, contradictions and all, and breaking down possible categorizations. "As a human being, I go through a range of emotions. Some days I might feel righteous, some days I might feel braggadocious," he says. "I wanted to communicate that range on In God's Image," his new album that drops today. This range is mirrored by the musical influences that pop up throughout the album, from breezy jazz to torturous soul to trunk-rattling trap-this melange comes together around his stories, giving them each their space.
As the album came together, Jahzel felt the difference from his previous works: "I took this serious as more of a full album release, while my last project Jet Lag was a true mixtape." The care is evident as he taps into the different strands of his city, collaborating with Noelz Vedere, Mathien, A-Cross, Meagan McNeal, and Whitney Rene. The project also features extensive collaboration with Maybach Music Group/Wale producer Tone P.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois during a time of increased social unrest, violence, and economic struggle, Jahzel has had to overcome many challenges. With his amazing ability to authentically articulate emotion and complex experiences of people from different backgrounds and upbringings via songwriting, he's swiftly made a name for himself in the music industry by ghostwriting Billboard-charting Top 40 hits by international artists. With his solo career as a rapper, his willingness to share candid memories allows his fans to relate and understand him not only as an artist, but also as a human. His debut mixtape First Class boasts heavy production from platinum producer and friend KE on the track, as well as features from Lil B and SODMG's JBar. Jahzel followed that project with an even more, wildly successful mixtape titled Jet Lag. Jet Lag garnered press hits from notable press outlets including but not limited to Datpiff, Fake Shore Drive, Thisis50, MTV2, and MTV's Suckerfree Sunday. Jahzel's latest album, In God's Image, is available now.

"SDSC" (Soul Daad & Stereo Crew)
"Oh La La La"
Off "AMSTERTROIT" LP
Twitter: @TheStereoBoyz @souldaadxxx
This is the first video off the Soul Daad & Stereo Crew collaborative album AMSTERTROIT. "Ooh La La" was produced by Soul Daad's Vice Vic and features Stereo Boyz' member Mixo.
Stereo Crew & Soul Daad release the first video off their free LP "AMSTERTROIT". The song and video "Oh La La La" were recorded in Amsterdam during the Stereo Boyz' recent Europe Tour.
The track was produced by Soul Daad's Vice Vic who sampled the classic "Fu-Gee-La". Of course coming from Amsterdam, you can imagine what "Ooh La La" is about. Watch the video below.
After having met on Twitter and exchanging beats through the world wide web, the Stereo Boyz (Detroit) met the Soul Daad crew (Netherlands) in person for the first time, and after a whole week in their Amsterdam headquarters, "AMSTERTROIT" was born. The LP consists of production and vocals from both crews, bilingual raps and great chemistry.
Mixo says: "We wanted to show a unity with this project, a unity in Hip Hop that, it seems, has been forgotten. This is positivity. This shows you that Hip Hop brings people together, and no language barriers or far distance can stop it."
Six-Person Production Supergroup "The Bangerz"
"Legends Never Die"
Six different talents come together as one on an epic scale when DJ and production crew The Bangerz' members Goldenchyld, Replay, Nick Ngo, Cutso, Squareweezy, and G-Wrex merge. The legendary production and turntablism crew emerges victorious on "Legends Never Die," as their innovative approach leads to a genre-transcending banger mixing elements of hip hop with electronic music. As a six-person crew, the group takes a Frankenstein-like approach to creating their music. For "Legends Never Die," Reply submitted an early version of the song with electronic style elements and big drums, then Squareweezy added heavy 808s and the choir. "It's a short attention-span theatre kind of beat but we're come to adapt ourselves and turn that into a style," explains Goldenchyld. He adds, "It's a tribute to shoe who set out to do legendary things and make a lasting effect on people long after they're gone." The crew will take listeners along on their upcoming full album, PRiSM, which was released on June 25th.
"Chicago" Rapper "Jahzel"
Off "In God's Image" Album
Jahzel releases another visual 'Carefree' from his "In GOD's Image" project.
The version of Chicago hip-hop artist Jahzel that comes through on his upcoming project In God's Image, which will be released on July 2nd, is certainly not one-dimensional. His lyrical content honestly expresses his thoughts and experiences, often ruminating on the trials and tribulations he has faced. On the album's newest single, the smooth and soulful Tone P-produced "Carefree," Jahzel reveals the side of himself that just wants to lay back, forget about the stress and chill.
"I was inspired buy a chilled summer night of just kicking it with the homies," he explains. "On this night in particular I wasn't going to allow anything to worry or stress me out. Sometimes we get caught up in the everyday functions of our lives trying to survive, and forget to take the time to enjoy the things we're working hard to get." Tone P, who has also collaborated with Wale and the Maybach Music Group, creates mellow production, which combines soft rhodes, an ethereal electric guitar and a head-bopping drumbeat to perfectly compliment the message behind Jahzel's words, and allow him to continue to develop himself creatively. "I really enjoyed zoning out and recording the hook," Jahzel recalls, "It's a style I hadn't used before. Was dope to try something new and push my own personal limits."

G&D (Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins)
Collaboration is a complex concept in the world of hip-hop. In a landscape of overblown individual personas, many of the most creatively fruitful collaborations occur when two distinct artistic voices fuse, resulting in a cohesive yet multi-layered relationship between perspectives and visions. It is no surprise that long-time collaborators Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins (a.k.a Declaime) are able to complement each other musically-their collaboration extends throughout their lives. The husband and wife duo's newest visual for "Majesty," off of their recent album The Lighthouse, highlights the inseparable connection between the two artistically. Muldrow highlighted that as Perkins' "place in this world as a poet of depth and authenticity" is given weight by her minimalist production aesthetic.
The kaleidoscopic video, which was premiered by VIBE, aims to capture the "celestial vibe" of connective positivity around which G&D had built the track. The duo feels the vibe: "the standout quality of this piece is the chemistry between us, creating a better now to unify with the world around us."
Man-u-iLL's Ft Fred The Godson
"Definition of a MC"
Twitter: @ManuiLL @FredTheGodson
If you google it, the most relevant answer you'd find is "Master of Ceremonies", the urban dictionary makes it a little more specific and says it could mean "Mic Controller"... What Man-u-iLL does with this track is, he takes the most relevant words and/or terms that start with letters M and C and crafts 2 VERY HOT verses around them... breaking down what those letters mean to him in the cleverest way possible. If that wasn't Hip Hop enough he reached out the BX's very own Lyrical Assassin, Fred The Godson to help make his point even clearer, "Just cause you put a couple words together that rhyme, and that maybe even sound ok, it don't make you a MC. The art of MCing has been lost in todays over saturated bullshit and Man-u-iLL doesn't plan on adding to it, what he does plan on is being at the forefront of bringing that raw HIP HOP shit BACK. Man-u-iLL's subject matter, delivery, and passion shine through and it makes this track a breath of fresh air in todays polluted game.
Decatur, Georgia Rapper Jarren Benton
Ft. Dizzy Wright & Pounds
"We On" (My Own D*ck)
Earlier this month, Jarren Benton, the newest member of Funk Volume, an independent label that also includes back-to-back XXL Freshmen Dizzy Wright and Hopsin, along with SwizZz and DJ Hoppa, released his official debut through the label, My Grandmas Basement. The album came out of the gate strong, with a #4 debut on the iTunes hip-hop charts and a similarly impressive #4 debut on Billboard Magazine's Heatseekers Albums chart. In July, Jarren will co-headline a 10-stop tour in Australia with Dizzy Wright and DJ Hoppa. In August, Jarren will headline his first ever U.S. tour, a 16-city run kicking off August 1st. And today, Jarren is excited to release the video for the latest single from My Grandmas Basement, "We On," which features Dizzy Wright and Pounds. The song is produced by Kato and the video is directed by George Orozco for On Point Films.
Benton's My Grandmas Basement Tour will kick off on August 1st in Jacksonville, Florida, at the Roc Bar, making stops in 16 cities along the way, including Jarren's hometown of Atlanta, Georgia; Brooklyn, New York; and more. The tour will end on August 19th in Columbus, Ohio (all tour dates below).
Jarren is no stranger to the stage. Studied in the anything-goes showmanship of Prince, Marilyn Manson and Method Man, Jarren pays attention to the power of the spontaneous connection between performer and live audience. "The essence of giving of a good show is not givin' a fuck," he says. "I'm excited to consistently get back on the road and get to the point where the pressure melts away. Once we start moving, performing seems like the most natural thing in the world, and I'm excited to become closely connected with each and every audience. I'll be down in the crowd, dancing and getting turnt up with the people."
Before Jarren heads out this August, he'll be joining label mates Dizzy Wright and DJ Hoppa on a 10-city tour through Australia. He's looking forward to the adventure. "Australia is absolutely nuts for a performer," says Benton. "I love the energy that the people there bring, across the board. They know how to party."

Off "Indigo Summer" Mix Tape Drop'n July 16th
Often described as "Aaliyah meets The Weeknd" with her moody, smooth vocals and minimalistic and evocative RnB style is Nylo, a Chicago-born singer/songwriter. But if you asked Nylo to describe her own sound she'd probably say she makes "music that sounds like snow."
Armed with sparse 808's and a delicate falsetto depicting confessions of a young woman, Nylo, who started writing poems and songs at a young age, writes with an emotional rawness and a level of musicality beyond her years. As someone who is admittedly obsessed with rap, classical, and Radiohead, the influences of all three seemingly disparate musical styles are discernable in her music.
Today, Nylo is excited to share the video for "Fool Me Once," the first single from her upcoming mixtape, Indigo Summer. The video, which was filmed on a cold winter night in her hometown of Chicago, showcases a dreamlike sequence that follows Nylo's realization that what was once a passionate love affair has turned into something else. Like her sound, the visuals are as fragile as they are gorgeous.
Even in a musical environment that brings the listener to a futuristic point, where the R&B singer-songwriter is inexorably interwoven with digital production, Chicago's Nylo is begging to "Take It Back." Even though she recognizes the futility of her wish, she cannot help but want to return to a time when things were still simple.
The next few weeks are bright for Nylo as she prepares to release her upcoming project Indigo Summer, which will come out on July 16th. Yet, the dark complexity will remain at the core of her musical expression-as she said, "I just want to make sure that I stay in a position that I can be honest with myself as an artist. Stay inspired, and stay making music that I believe in."

"Decatur, GA" Rapper "Jarren Benton"
Ft. "SwizZz" & "Hopsin"
"Go Off" (Official Video)
"Bully" Ft "Vinnie Paz"
Off "My Grandma's Basement"
Today, Jarren Benton is releasing his official debut album, My Grandmas Basement. As the newest member of Funk Volume, the independent powerhouse label also home to back-to-back XXL Freshmen Dizzy Wright and Hopsin, along with SwizZz and DJ Hoppa, Benton has built a serious bit of buzz for the new album - the two lead singles from My Grandmas Basement have combined for over 475,000 YouTube views; pre-orders for the album are in the thousands. Now, Benton is celebrating the album release with a video for new single "Go Off," a track that fittingly features Benton's Funk Volume label mates Hopsin and SwizZz.
The track, produced by M16, is a dark, thumping affair that builds furiously from verse to chorus, and the three rappers attack the beat with ferocity, starting with Jarren's rapid-fire opening verse, as he attacks haters and doubters and celebrates being different and the success of the tight-knit label. "You couldn't fathom my pain," raps Jarren in the track's refrain. "I hated being me, I was mad at my brain/ All the hope that I felt made me sad and insane/ Look back, like God, I was glad I felt strange."
The video, which was directed by Hopsin and filmed by George Orozco of On Point Films, is staking claim as one of the most original, entertaining videos of the year, with raucous performance shots of Jarren, SwizZz, and Hopsin interspersed with some wild shots of Jarren and Hopsin - both of whom are dressed in white-face; Hopsin is dressed like a woman - acting a fool in the local trailer park.

"Chicago" Rapper "Jahzel"
Off "In God's Image" Drop'n July 2nd
"My main inspiration for this video was trying to create a visual novel or book," Jahzel explains, "We wanted to really give a look of someone who was locked in a room, and has gone mad writing pages upon pages of stories." The song's introspective and deeply personal lyrics lent to a visual style that capitalized on his desire to share where he comes from and what he has learned . "It ties into the song as I discuss how I've been through many experiences which when written down, could fill up several pages. Each experience being a past 'chapter' of my life," Jahzel continues, pointing out that his story is far from complete. "Also in the video I am shown still writing, symbolizing that I have much more life to live."
Over the past months, Chicago, with the dominance of its Drill scene and the emergence of artists like Chance The Rapper and the recently disbanded Kids These Days, has proven to be one of the most talented, diverse hotbeds for hip-hop music. Jahzel, who hails from the north side of the city, fits snuggly in the middle of these two scenes, delivering music that balances soulfully tangible songwriting with trunk-rattling production. That sounds is on display throughout Jahzel's forthcoming album, In God's Image, which will be released on July 2nd, and which Jahzel announced earlier this month accompanied by the release of a video for the album's title track. Today DJ Booth is premiering the latest single from the project, "Chapters."
With "Chapters," a track produced by Tone P, who produced a number of tracks on In God's Image and has also worked closely with Wale, Jahzel opens up about the realities of pursuing a career in rap. "Saw me on ya tv but it ain't what it appears to be," raps Jahzel on the track. "Sensitive about my raps I deal with insecurities/ Promise I be yelling but its like nobody's hearing me/ Always had the drive, Lord I just pray you're steering me." Explaining the lyric, Jahzel says, "I was trying to convey that despite whatever perception may be about a music career, especially a rap career, its been an extremely tough journey filled with ups and down; never easy."
It's no secret that Chicago is one of the epicenters of youth culture right now. While Drill music represents one element of the vibrant Chi-town scene, Jahzel, a native of the North Side/Uptown section of the city, balances soulfully tangible songwriting with trunk-rattling production. Though young, Jahzel boasts a track record that includes ghostwriting Top 40 hits for internationally renowned acts, a debut mixtape that featured platinum producer and friend KE, Lil B, and JBar from Soulja Boy's SODMG, and features with Datpiff, Fake Shore Drive, Thisis50, MTV2, and MTV's Suckerfree Sunday. Now putting the last touches his final free mixtape release, In God's Image, Jahzel looks to raise the stakes yet again. The project will feature extensive production from Maybach Music Group/Wale producer Tone P, a Chicago-heavy feature list that includes Noelz Vedere, Mathien, A-Cross, Meagan McNeal, and Whitney Rene, and a plethora of videos for his most refined offering to date. In God's Image will be released on July 2nd, 2013 via The Black Key Collective.
Jahzel's latest album, In God's Image, will be released on June 3rd, 2013.
"California" Six-Person Production "SuperGroup"
"Beam" (Jabbawockeez) Instrumental
Off "PRiSM" Drop'n June 25th
Hailing from California, The Bangerz, formally known as The Fingerbangerz, have an impressive list of accomplishments and highlights punctuating their storied career, including holding titles from the ITF (International Turntablist Federation) Western Hemisphere Team Championships and the DMC Regional Championships, scoring original music for ad campaigns for global brands, The Simpsons video game, and MTV's America's Best Dance Crew. They have collaborated with numerous artists including Diplo, Kelis, and with Chris Brown on his single "Look At Me Now." In addition, The Bangerz have cultivated an international fan base and toured with artists across many different genres, including Afrika Bambaataa, The Clipse, ?uestlove of The Roots, Raekwon, Ghostface, Kid Koala and The Rapture. Currently, their music is being featured in two Microsoft commercials and they're serving the official musical directors and scored all the music for the Las Vegas stage show at the Luxor performed by AMDC Season 1 winners The Jabbawockeez.
The Bangerz, a six-person production supergroup of Goldenchyld, Replay, Nick Ngo, Cutso, Squareweezy, and G-Wrex have evolved over time, but their roots are in Northern California where the crew met as DJs in high school. They quickly made a name for themselves, winning multiple turntablist competitions and crossed paths with then unknown dance crew, the Jabbawockeez. Before long, the Jabbawockeez were turning to the Bangerz to create all their original music - something that was almost unheard of in 2003 - and kept them close while they went on to win MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and set up their first Vegas show. Mus.i.C, the sin-city score to that Vegas show was produced entirely by the Bangerz and charted right behind Daft Punk's Tron on iTunes upon its release.
Combining DJ skill with slick production that spans multiple genres from house, trance and dubstep to hip-hop, pop and R&B, their innovative approach to their material has served The Bangerz well, propelling them to numerous career highlights collectively and individually, including group member Replay producing tracks for Diplo, Kelis and Chris Brown. Individually, the Bangerz have made their name as dancefloor conductors for years. Members have performed with Afrika Bambaataa, the Clipse, WuTang's Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Kid Koala, shared tour routes with Z-Trip, and played alongside Major Lazer and Odd Future at festivals like New Orleans' Voodoo Fest. But with the growing popularity of melting-pot electronica where 808s and hard synths reign supreme, The Bangerz have once again found their expertise ready to shine. In the past year, the group was solicited by the director of Project X to produce a track for their anything-goes party soundtrack, and are currently preparing to release their next album, also the score to the second Jabbawockeez Vegas show, entitled PRiSM, due out June 25.
"Detroit" Rapper "Chuck Inglish"
Long hot nights, ice-cold beverages, short shorts, and backyard BBQ's are just around the corner. Allow Cool Kids member Chuck Inglish to provide the soundtrack to all of that and more. Steeped in clean, spares production style full of thumpy 808's, woozy synths, Chuck's new sounds are the perfect accompaniment for summertime antics and cruising. Releasing in conjunction with Karmaloop, the album is available today for free download. Karmaloop is also selling a limited number of numerically tagged t-shirts that are autographed by Chuck himself in two designs and colorways.
The inspiration for Droptops came to Chuck during SXSW. Says Chuck, "While in Austin, my homie who has a dope droptop Bonneville drove us around to my showcases and the idea for the tape came to me on the way to The Illmore. Shout-outs to Sascha, Scoremore, and Illroots. When I got back to LA, I mixed it with the vibes I've been working on over the past year and this EP is a reflection of that whole process." Full production credits for all nine songs go to Chuck himself and the guest features include Asher Roth, Travi$ Scott, Aston Matthews, Buddy, and more. The follow-up to Droptops will be Chuck's album Convertibles due out late this summer via his Sounds Like Fun record label in conjunction with Federal Prism's "Lecord Rabel" imprint.
"Long Beach" Rapper "Joey Fatts"
"Picture Me Rollin"
May 29, 2013 (New York, NY) Today, up-and-coming Long Beach, California rapper-producer Joey Fatts is proud to release his first official mixtape, Chipper Jones Vol. 2 for free download via his Soundcloud account. The recent Yamborghini Records signee's mixtape features guest production and appearances from Alchemist, Young Chop, Danny Brown, 100s, Action Bronson, Freddie Gibbs, A$AP Rocky, his Cutthroat Boyz cohorts Vince Staples and A$ton Matthews and more.
Clocking in at 15 tracks, the mixtape brings Fatts' hometown of Long Beach and the plights of inner city gangbanging to the forefront. Often regarded as a sister city to Los Angeles, Long Beach has its own strong sense of identity and culture that Fattts is proud to put on display on Chipper Jones Vol. 2. Says Fatts, "Long Beach taught how to hustle at a young age and it has directly influenced my music." On the track "Die Today," Fatts reflects on when his big brother Big Fatts, who acted as a father figure for most of his adolescent life, got arrested two days before his 10th birthday. On the track, "Live Blasphemous," Fatts trades verses with Action Bronson about the hardships of growing up with his mother not being able to pay bills and other commonplace struggles that youth experience growing up in inner cities. Says Fatts, "Truthfully, I'm just trying to put Long Beach back on the map. I want to spread awareness in the gangbanging epidemic that's taking place in our inner city youth not just in LA but also in Long Beach. I'm also just trying to keep the tradition going with West Coast gangsta rap in the vien of Snoop, Spice 1, and Tupac."
Despite being fresh on the scene, Joey Fatts, has carved out a respectable lane for himself in a remarkably short amount of time. His production credits include "Jodye" from A$AP Rocky's Long.Live.A$AP album, "Brick Flair" from A$ton Matthew's Versace Rags album, "Hit Em Up" for ScHoolboy Q's track on Funk Flex's recent mixtape, and more. And as a rapper with a knack for penning heartfelt street anthems, Fatts has built a reputation as a rising star who is as talented as he is diverse. He is currently on tour in Europe with A$AP Rocky.

"New London, Connecticut" Rapper "Hayze"
"Life is Hell"
Off "The Smoker's Section" Mix Tape
New London, Connecticut, repper, and recent Man Bites Dog Records signee, Hayze, is excited to release his new mixtape, The Smoker's Section. This new tape, presented in conjunction with Man Bites Dog Records and 2DopeBoyz, is the culmination of months of work and the project features Freck Billionaire and Alumni, in addition to Hayze's mentor and fellow Connecticut native Apathy.
Hayze first linked with Apathy by chance, when the rap veteran walked in on a recording session of Hayze's at Smoke The World studios. "He sounded mad different than anything I was hearing at the time," recalls Apathy of the meeting. "Most fans would probably expect me to champion someone who has a similar sound as Demigodz or Army Of The Pharaohs, but that's exactly the opposite of what I hear from him, and it's what I dug about his music."
When Hayze was subsequently first introduced with the video for The Smoker's Section's lead single "Creepmode," which Apathy produced, listeners were given a quick taste of the youth, lyricism, and distinctive vocal tone that first caught Apathy's ear. That video was followed by the Apathy-featuring "Life Is Hell," which also later received video treatment, and most recently, in lead-up to today's release, Hayze has dropped off a final pair of singles – "Eyes Low" is a weeded, lyrical display that features Freck Billionaire, while "Cloud 9," which features Alumni, offers a more introspective look at Hayze.
Other tracks, like "The Smoker's Section Interlude," also stand out – and help Hayze stand apart as a multi-faceted force to be reckoned with. "That track, through and through, is Hayze," says the rapper. "I got to showcase my singing abilities, and the verse on that track is so real – I get chills when I listen to it."
All told, The Smoker's Section is a project that shows the 22-year-old rapper continuing to grow as a person and as an artist, noting that it was the recent passing of his grandmother that encouraged him to put his all into his music. "With The Smoker's Section," explains Hayze, "I focused on this like it was the last thing I'd do, I took it that serious. There's a lot of soul in this music."
"Las Vegas" Rapper "Dizzy Wright"
"XXL Freshman" (Freestyle)
"The First Agreement"
Last month, Dizzy Wright was named to XXL Magazine's 2013 Freshmen Class, being announced as the "People's Champ" fan-vote winner. Today, the celebration continues with the release of Dizzy's "XXL Freshman Freestyle." The acapella clip shows just what makes Dizzy so special as a rapper, as he mixes complex lyricism with a delicate balance of insight, introspection, and boastfulness.
To win the fan-vote for the XXL Freshmen cover, amongst all that talent, is no small feat, and it's a testament to Dizzy's work ethic, to the months and months that he's spent on the road touring around the world over the past year, that he has such a rabid, loyal following. And so it's no surprise that Dizzy is back on the road again this spring, having recently kicked off a 25-city nationwide tour, The Fight To Unite Tour, alongside Kottonmouth Kings, Snow Tha Product, and more. In addition to the tour, Dizzy Wright will play two shows next month in New York City, the first on May 21st, at Best Buy Theater to celebrate the XXL Freshmen cover, and the second, on May 22nd, at The Studio at Webster Hall. Dizzy will also perform at this year's SoundSet festival, alongside Atmosphere, Snoop Dogg, Mac Miller, Tech N9ne, and more.

To celebrate the release of their new collaborative album, Capture the Sun, on TK via Man Bites Dog Records, Illogic & Blockhead are unveiling the third chapter of their mini-documentary series Journey to Capture The Sun. While Part 1 and Part 2 of the mini-doc series broke down how Illogic and Blockhead first got into hip-hop, and then how they first got into each other's music, Part 3, again directed by Blueprint, delves deeper into how and why the two artists chose to work with each other for this album.
In the mini-doc clip, Blockhead calls Capture The Sun "an album that I'm proud of," and for fans that are still unsure – even after HipHopDX's recent 4/5-rated review, which hailed the album as "some of their most inspired work to date" – Illogic & Blockhead, in conjunction with MTV Hive are also giving fans a chance to stream the album free of charge, accompanied by an insightful Q&A, before making their purchase.
And for those fans that choose to purchase the album? "New York" Rapper "Smokey Robotic"
The eclectic and irresistible pop, electronic and hip-hop conflagration that is Smokey Robotic has just debuted their video "Gandhi" from recently released album Musium. The group, composed of singer-songwriters Seer and Father Dude along with producers !llmind and Konrad Oldmoney, has just wrapped a wildly successful west coast tour culminating in a headline show at The Roxy in Los Angeles, and now MTV Hive has premiered "Gandhi," which producer !llmind succinctly describes as "a trippy ass video for a trippy ass song." The stunning psychedelic visuals were directed by T.S. Pfeffer and Robert McHugh, for Pier Pictures, a studio that's previously directed videos for Diplo, El-P, Ice Cube, and others.
"Gandhi" is ultimately a dance track. Producer Konrad Oldmoney explains that, "Originally, I made this beat out of a general discontent for the current state of bass-driven music." The whip crack of snappy production, built around Konrad's global bass sound, opens the track in full to what Seer calls, "a celebration of the sexual and natural wildness of being human." Father Dude elaborates by adding that "The song felt sexually reckless and Gandhi was a strangely appropriate and inappropriate figure to base it off of." Maybe sexualizing Gandhi is spot-on though, because, as Seer continues, "you get higher off of your heart than any substance." It's hard not to get high off this video with its masterful diversity of kaleidoscopic effects, which, as Seer says, "allows the song to breathe" and perhaps most critically, "hopefully inspires women to want to kiss our flying mouths." Truer words... you know how it goes.
"Little Rock" Arkansas Rapper "SL Jones"
Off "Trapper's Delight" EP
SL Jones is excited to announce his very firstheadline tour, The Way Of Life No Hobby Tour. After dropping his lauded EP, Trapper's Delight, in January, the Little Rock rapper is excited to take his captivating live show on the road, bringing the songs that fans have grown to love to cities throughout the Southeast and Midwest. The first leg of The Way Of Life No Hobby Tour, a total of nine dates, will kick off tonight, Tuesday, April 9th, in New Orleans and will make stops throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma along the way before capping off with a hometown performance in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Though Jones has performed in cities all around the country over the past year, The Way Of Life No Hobby Tour, as the rapper's first headline run, is particularly special. "It's these first ones that we'll always be able look back on and remember as being special," says Jones, looking forward to the dates. "I'm excited to get out there and connect with the fans, perform some favorites and some new songs, too."
Also today, to celebrate the launch of the tour, Jones is releasing a new video from Trapper's Delight, for "Sack Religious." The video, shot and directed by Aditya Pamidi, captures a grittiness that fits well with the track's dark, brooding vibe. "The song is so visual," says Jones, "that we didn't want to do anything over the top; we wanted to go out and capture the natural, day-to-day environment that we're around."

"Atlanta" Rapper "Tez McClain"
"Art vs Hustle"
Off "Scoundrel" EP
Atlanta emcee Tez McClain released his most recent record, Scoundrel, just over a month ago and has since released videos for "By Any Means" and "Flick'n," the latter of which just debuted as the New Joint Of The Day on BET's 106th & Park this past Friday. Today, he is releasing the video for "Art vs Hustle," which was produced by Natural Disaster and was directed by Raw Work Films. The video was premiered this morning by The Smoking Section.
The song’s subject matter is as deep as the songs flow is smooth. In "Art vs Hustle," Tez questions the exaggeration and glorification of the empty culture he sees behind "hustling" and the rappers who exploit to stay on top. Tez raps, "You can’t write your shit / Let alone wife a chick / But you can fuckk his bitch / That’s a hit that’ll likely stick." While definitely criticizing the darker sides of fame, Tez bring it back to how this "hustling" impacts people closer to him with lines like "You too old to be broke as hell / College graduate and why the fuck you got dope for sale?" It’s a tightrope that rappers like Tez walk, trying to play the game yet keep their integrity. Tez ends his verse leaving us with this: "Art versus hustle, it may be a split decision."

Hip Hop artist Sun latest video “Bad Girl”, was recently picked up by MTV & VH1. The video pays homage to The Bad Girl’s Club, a reality television show on the Oxygen network.
His upcoming project titled “ The Cause and Cure” will allow fans to get an inside look of his reality and who he is behind the music. Sun recently spoke about the meaning behind the single, stating "I've always had a soft spot for the softness of a woman. The song "Bad Girl" is just a dedication to everything I find stimulating about women. The video is a light twist of the reality show fused with sexiness!! Y'all gonna love it!!"

DOPE!!!!!! That's all I can say. Don't want to say who he reminds me of, but it aint "Tyler The Creator", (lol) but he's so vicious with his tongue, he dang near got me sprung!!!
2013 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for independent powerhouse label Funk Volume – and Jarren Benton, the label's newest signee, figures to play a major in those plans. Brought into the Funk Volume fold last year, the Atlanta rapper has been steadily building his name over the past few years, most notably with fan-favorite mixtapes Huffing Glue With Hasselhoff and Freebasing With Kevin Bacon. Now, Jarren, who clearly has a penchant for amazing album titles, is excited to announce his forthcoming Funk Volume debut, My Grandmas Basement, which will be released this June. Today, accompanying the album announcement, Jarren is unveiling the album's rather amazing album artwork, along with the lead single from My Grandmas Basement, "Razor Blades And Steak Knives."
The song, produced by SMKA Productions in-house producer Kato, is built around haunting organs and strings and heavy, off-kilter drums, a perfect fit for Jarren's weaving, frenetic flow, as he takes shots at naysayers with lines like, "My wife say she's sick of my behavior/ You fa**ots, stop comparing me to Tyler, The Creator/ I been on this shit since you was allowed in the theater... You were just a little bitch before you morphed into a hater." About the track Benton says, "It's just me getting my shit off as an MC, me taking some shots at the anti-Jarren Benton critics; it's just me being completely ignorant and having fun with it."
Accompanying today's single, Jarren and Funk Volume are also unveiling the official album artwork for My Grandmas Basement. Taken with Jarren's actual grandma, in Jarren's actual grandma's actual basement, the photo features Jarren, donning a raccoon hat, standing next to his sitting grandmother, a rifle laid across her lap. For Jarren, the inspiration for the artwork, and the album title, runs deep. "She's always been supportive of my music, and showed me the true meaning of unconditional love," says Jarren. "My grandma will give me some real inspirational advice – and she'll also kill any ni**a that fucks with me the wrong way."

"Killem Wit Kindness"
Coming over a track that sounds reminiscent of a Bay Area classic called "The Player's Club" by "Rappin 4 Tay", "Dizzy Wright" rocked it his way.Dizzy Wright is on a serious roll. Early last week, Dizzy was named as part of XXL Magazine's 2013 Freshmen 10 class, winning the fan-voted "People's Champ" spot. He followed that honor by launching his "Still Movin'" campaign, with slick merch and a new video. And today, Dizzy is releasing yet another new video, for the song "Killem Wit Kindness," which will be featured on Dizzy's soon-to-be-titled upcoming mixtape.
The track, produced by AF $upreme, is built around a laid back guitar loop, a somber vibe that Dizzy uses to open up and give fans a stream-of-consciousness look into his career, what it means for him to be a father and a rapper, and wanting to do better for his family. The video, directed and edited by Geeezy Productions, offers a fitting day-in-the-life look, as Dizzy spends time with his daughter, kicks it with friends, and much more.
"G&D" (Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins) "Popstopper"
Off "The Lighthouse" Drop'n May 21st
Twitter: @JAHJAHMULDROW @someothaship
Married duo Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins aka G&D drops the first single, "PopStopper." off their upcoming album, The Lighthouse.scheduled for May 21st.
On May 21st, husband and wife duo G&D (Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins) will release their new album, The Lighthouse, via the duo's own record label, SomeOthaShip Connect. The album is spiritual yet grounded deeply in reality, mixing funk, soul, hip-hop, and psychedelic jazz, as Georgia's powerful vocals and instrumentation blends with Dudley's poetic cadence to deliver a collection of tracks that touches on parenthood, war, social responsibility, and more. Last week, G&D unveiled the album's unique artwork, commissioned by Japanese visual artist Tokio Aoyama, and the album's track list, and today, Georgia and Dudley are releasing the album's first official single, "PopStopper." The single will also be made available through retail April 30th, digitally via SomeOthaShip Connect and on 7" vinyl via Traffic Entertainment.
The track, which was premiered this morning by Pitchfork, is one that G&D describes as "brimming with confidence and exuberant energy," and that exuberance is evident from Georgia's opening couplet, as she sings, "Don't ever think that you're alone/ Cause loneliness can grow/ Into something that you can't control/ Long as you got a heart, you're at home." The production, like all of the best work from G&D, is driven forward by an off-kilter swing that sits against the beat's on-the-one feel, and Dudley takes full advantage of the track's movement - not to mention its thumping funk and vibrato, spacey synth pads - with a fluid verse that targets those aimlessly chasing pop stardom. The theme comes fully to a head with the song's hook, a refrain that G&D says is all about "regaining self-composure and understanding."
"Pittsburg, Ca" Rapper "A-Wax"
Off "Jesus Malverde"
Surrounding the release of his Jesus Malverde album, Pittsburg, California, rapper A-Wax has put out a string of finely crafted videos, most recently today's "Pie-Rx Boy." A nod to A-Wax's own label Pie-Rx Recordz and the team who makes it happen, in-house collaborators Brian Reyes and Teddy Gyi of Sigmond IV Multimedia once again oversee the treatment, which features A-Wax as an employee of the fictional late night diner "Rex's Diner."
A-Wax, no stranger to the way in which his gun-brandishing image can appear as cliché, knowingly says, "they think I am a little bit predictable with my themes and messages." So putting A-Wax as kitchen staff is a way to switch it up and challenge that perception. "If you hear, 'Pie-Rx Boy, keep it cooking' on the hook," explains A-Wax, "you might assume I'll be cooking dope or standing on the block. I wanted to throw them off with this one, and we had fun making it, not taking ourselves too seriously." Things ramp up a bit, though, as the track's catchy hook comes in, along with some machine gun-toting robbers, and the video unwinds in a tense play-by-play.
"New York" Rappers "The Doppelgangaz"
Off "Hark" Album
The Doppelgangaz released their new album, HARK. The 12-track project, out via the group's Groggy Pack Entertainment label, is the first official album since 2011's Lone Sharks, and musically, the project continues to assert The Doppelgangaz, comprised of rapper/producer's Matter Ov Fact and EP, as part of the up-and-coming group of standard bearers for New York's resurgent hip-hop scene. And while fans will be able to catch The Doppelgangaz celebrating their album release with a performance at Audible Treats' Fourth Annual Official SXSW Hip-Hop Showcase this Thursday at Bar 512, today, The Dopps are releasing the video for new single, "Skin Yarmulke."
The video, premiered this morning by Complex, shows The Doppelgangaz lighter side as they don wigs and yarmulkes. "The main inspiration was the awful prank genetics can play on you," explain the duo, "leaving you with your sun roof open before you've made a mark in this world." The video, self-directed by The Doppelgangaz, who direct all of their own videos, was shot in a stripped down, undisclosed location, a fitting space that echoes the duo's Black Cloak lifestyle. "The location is sparse, almost tribal," remarked EP and Matter. "It represents the lack of follicles we'll have on our head before we even get a chance to ball on these haters." Beyond their performances at this year's SXSW festival, The Doppelgangaz will be hitting the road later this month, embarking on their first official headline tour through Europe. Kicking off March 20th, in Berlin, Germany, the tour will run 12 shows deep, closing out on April 7th in Leipzig, Germany, with stops along the way in Denmark, Belgium, and France along the way.

Queens native rapper and former back-up dancer Nyemiah Supreme can take care of herself, thankyouverymuch. Her newest video for “Nothin” which VIBE premiered yesterday, celebrates independent women.
Featuring a fit all-female cast, the video shows Nyemiah and her girls flexing at the gym and at one of her favorites spots, the famous sneaker shop GB’s in Jamaica, Queens.
“The concept of the video is just me and my girls working out in the gym, showing the guys that we stronger than them and that we can do anything better than them because we don’t need them for anything” says Nyemiah. “It’s lighthearted and fun, not to be taken seriously.”
With two successful mixtape releases under her belt, BAD and
Pre-Gaming, Nyemiah is getting ready to release another project in the spring. More details to come soon.
"Queens, NY" Rapper "Nyemiah Supreme"
As people, we navigate through life the best way that we can but there's a lot of times when we get caught up in conventions, biases and subjective heresy. "Surface," the March #TeamBaiyu release, brings color to the chaos that we're often forced to face with little guidance towards truth. It challenges traditional means of thought and behavior, and asks that you break through the veil to take a breath.

The project has a multitude of different sounds so I am more than confident there is a little something for everybody on the full EP!

"One In A Million"
Sherrod White states, "It's authentic music in its purest form that encourages the listener to pursue their God given purpose in the mist of temptation to conform to what the culture tells them who they should be.
Everyone is told who they should be and often not encouraged to be who they authentically are, be that One
In A Million".
Next week, on Wednesday, March 13th
, Eddie B & Harry Fraud
, alongside Roc Marciano
, and more, will headline the Man Bites Dog Records Official SXSW showcase
– and they'll be using the opportunity
to unveil their new EP, Horsepower
, both live on stage and as an exclusive early release via cassette tape. Today, following last week's release of lead single "Courage,"
Eddie and Harry are
releasing the EP's second single, "Marvelous,"
which was premiered by MTV Hive
and features fellow NY rapper Action Bronson
While "Courage" carried a more slowed, deliberate pace, driven by Fraud's creeping chops and Eddie's spaced out bars, "Marvelous" carries a quicker tempo, which does well, in contrast to "Courage" in showing off Eddie B's diversity and ability to flip flows . The hook, built around a sampled lyric from Raekwon's classic "Rainy Dayz" verse, sets the tone for the track, as Eddie and Action trade impressive bars. "I just listen to the beat," says Eddie, "and it instructs me what to do."
"By Any Means"
Last week, Atlanta rapper Tez McClain released his new EP, Scoundrel. The project, Tez' first release since
touring recently with the likes of Killer Mike, Mistah FAB, and Eligh, includes features from E-40, Reese, Erk Tha
Jerk, HBK Skipper, along with production from Zaytoven and Natural Disaster. It's also a project that finds Tez at his most aggressive, lacing the 10-track project with assertive, unrelenting bars, and a perfect example of that is new single "By Any Means," which features Hollywood Da Prynce, and for which Tez is
releasing a video today.
Driven by a winding synth line and sinister 808's, all courtesy of producer Natural Disaster, the track, as Tez puts it, explains "the mentality of the average dude from urban America that feels worthless without money and tangibles." The video, directed by Be El Be, brings that sentiment to life, all dark imagery that tells the story of a young man who commits armed robbery in an attempt to maintain a certain lifestyle, and the repercussions that come with it.

Off "The Smoker's Section" Mix Tape
New London, Connecticut, isn’t often known as a hip-hop breeding
ground, but as the hometown to upstart rapper Hayze, that may
soon change. After being introduced to Man Bites Dog Records
by Demigodz veteran Apathy, Hayze is
getting ready to release The Smoker’s Section, a new mixtape dropping on March 7th. Last week, Hayze and Apathy released the single for their first ever collaboration, "Life Is Hell," with the two rappers going bar-for-bar, and now this week, they're releasing a video for the track.
The video, directed by Camacho of Flawless Visuals, was shot in New London, a grimy, freezing spot where barren streets and a chilling climate lend to the viciousness and energy of the track. “Everything ties into the song,” says Hayze, “because the song’s about how life is hard all the time but you gotta keep it pushing.” With a treatment from Apathy, the video shows the two rappers, despite the generational difference, coming together to represent their shared Connecticut roots. "It's special just knowing that I have a video with Apathy,” said Hayze. "That’s huge for a kid from a small town."

Off "HARK" Dropping 3/12/13
Earlier this month, fast-rising NY duo The Doppelgangaz
announced their new album, HARK
, accompanied by a video for the album's debut single, "Hark Back."
The album, which will be released March 12th
via the duo's label, Groggy Pack Entertainment
, is a dark, gritty affair, one that nods toward the past, with comparisons to Gravediggaz
and Boot Camp Clik, while looking towards the future and places The
Doppelgangaz, comprised of rapper/producers EP
Matter Ov Fact
, firmly among the emergent New York hip-hop scene.
Today, The Doppelgangaz are releasing their new video, "Oh Well."
With their previous video for "Hark Back," The Doppelgangaz delivered a black-and-white clip featuring The Dopps as black-cloaked, free-riding car-jackers, and with this new video for "Oh Well," again self-directed by EP and Matter Ov Fact and premiered today by VIBE
, the duo continues to
deliver visuals that match their rugged aesthetic. The song opens with a
crackled soul sample, and the video, shot in upstate New York, at a cattle farm, does well to show off the duo's sense of humor. "The treatment came to us while dining at Peter Luger Steakhouse," says The Doppelgangaz, jokingly. "We were drinking milk, listening to the song, and it hit us!"

"First Light" (Opio + Pep Love) Of (Hieroglyphics)
Hieroglyphics members Pep Love
and Opio are announcing the formation of a new duo, First Light. As First Light, Pep and Opio will release a new album, Fallacy Fantasy, on March 12th, and to coincide with the album release, will also embark on a month-long tour this spring. First Light has released the album's first single, "Lighters," which features the duo's Hieroglyphics crew, with
guest appearances from Casual, Del the Funky Homosapien, and A-Plus.
The formation of First Light is rooted in Hiero's celebration of spontaneous musical collaboration. With First Light, Opio, who also is a member of Souls Of Mischief, and Pep Love take their cue from the finest characteristics of "Golden Era" hip-hop, while, at the same time, battling the paradox of their attraction to and antagonism against the pervasiveness of the apathy and debauchery in today's pop culture. Hence, the title of their debut album Fallacy Fantasy.
This spring, the duo will be taking their new music on the road, with the Stress Free Tour. Kicking off on March 20th in Fairfax, California, with stops along the way in cities like San Francisco and Fresno, before heading to Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and New Mexico, the tour will make 25 stops beforeending on April 19th in Salem, Oregon. Throughout the tour, First Light will be giving fans samples of their most recent work in conjunction with a campaign of behind-the-scenes footage and music videos.
To celebrate the announcement, First Light has released the album's first single, "Lighters." Featuring production by Unjust of The Chosen Few, "Lighters" is a track held together by solid groove and a drone of distant 8bit sounds. The video, edited by Unjust and directed by Casual, takes us from a dark forest where Casual tells us we are "witnessing hip-hop's beautification" to Pep Love’s yellow-lit basement, where he flashes into a shrouded and crystalline red-eyed creature. Esoteric themes and extraterrestrial references abound as Opio lets us know, "I see the future like George Orwellian theory." In contrast to the uncanny verses, the chorus is a sing-along anthem, complete with lines like, "Put your lighters in the air till it burns your thumb."

"New York" Rap Duo "The Doppelgangaz"
Off "HARK" Dropping 3/12/13
Doppelgangaz announced their new album, HARK. The album, which will be released on March 12th via The Doppelgangaz' Groggy Pack Entertainment label, is a dark, gritty affair, one that places that group firmly amongst the fast-rising and multi-sub-genre scene of young New York rappers. With the announcement came first single, "Hark Back," and today, the duo of rapper/producers EP and Matter Ov Fact are releasing the video for the track.
The song, self-produced by The Doppelgangaz, opens with a haunting bass line, accented by a crisp, moving drum loop and a repeated vocal chant ("Ayo!") that plays against the duo's quick, dark verses. The clip, premiered this morning by FADER, is a window into The Doppelgangaz' world and Black Cloak Lifestyle, as the clip moves from car-jacking-free-riding to a series of dark, cloaked bonfire performance scenes.
Also notable, the video, as with all things Doppelgangaz, was executed, start to finish, completely by EP and Matter Ov Fact. "We directed the video and came up with the treatment," says the duo, adding jokingly, "We didn't want to work with just ourselves, but unfortunately, those are the only people who can tolerate our antics."The Doppelgangaz
, comprised of rapper/producers and childhood
friends Matter Ov Fact
, are a standard bearer for the re-emergent New York hip-hop scene. Independently, through the duo's own label, Groggy Pack Entertainment
, The Doppelgangaz had something of a breakout in 2011 and 2012, a run that included the release of their album, in addition to a string of instrumental projects and EP releases.
Together, these releases have opened up The Doppelgangaz to a legion of loyal grassroots fans – The Doppelgangaz have over one million YouTube channel views; they've toured Europe extensively and are headed back for a headline tour this spring; they reached number one on HHV's Top 100
list, Europe's top vinyl retailer – and they've done it all independently. Now, with plans for a European headline tour this spring, The Doppelgangaz have announced their new album, HARK
, which will be released March 12, 2013
"Harlem" Rap Duo "Trips-N-Slim"
Off "The Preface" Drop'n April 2nd
"Las Vegas" Rapper "Dizzy Wright"
2012 was nothing short of a breakout year for Funk Volume rapper Dizzy Wright. First up, the The Las Vegas native released his official debut album, SmokeOut Conversations, which peaked at #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart; next came a free mixtape, Free SmokeOut Conversations, with over 200,000 downloads; and, to close the year, an EP, The First Agreement, with yet another strong showing, peaking at #3 on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts. And while these numbers would have even the most accomplished of artists celebrating, Dizzy instead brought his music to fans across the world, with tours alongside his Funk Volume labelmates Hopsin, Jarren Benton, SwizZz, and DJ Hoppa that spanned three continents.
Early last month, Dizzy partnered Hot New Hip-Hop to record the song
"Verbalizing," a track that has since amassed nearly 100,000 views on the site, and today, Dizzy and Hot New Hip-Hop are bringing fans a video for the popular single. The song, over somber, keys-driven production, finds Dizzy recounting the steps he's taken, since a teen, to get where he is today. The video, directed by Armen Soudjian for Urbanlinx Productions, complements the song well, a series of low key performance shots that allows Dizzy's introspective lyrics to shine.

"They Call Me Castro" (Official Video)
"Curly Castro" Ft "Has-Lo" - "Coal"
Castro released his Man Bites Dog
Records debut, FIDEL. The album, which released for free and presented by DJBooth.net, for the uninitiated fan, serves as the perfect intro to the Flatbush, Brooklyn-raised, Philly-based rapper. Often rebellious throughout, FIDEL explores issues of race, social equality, and more, influenced sounds ranging from Boot Camp Clik to Johnny Cash, and including guest work from the likes of Has-Lo and Zilla Rocca, both of whom also produce on the album, alongside Georgia Anne Muldrow, Small Professor, and more. Today, Curly Castro is releasing the video for
"They Call Me Castro."
The song, which opens FIDEL, is easily the most aggressive of the album. The track, produced by Blueprint, driven by heavy drums and a wailing electric
guitar loop, and the video, directed by Joe Castro, falls right in line, bringing together low-lit, gritty performance clips, some with Castro's eyes covered by a tied red bandana, and scenes of protests throughout the city, as Castro unloads a barrage of hardened lyrics that stems from the song's opening lyric, "Now they call me Castro/ My rap flow is militant."

Rap Contest 5
Premier independent hip-hop label Funk Volume
is excited to announce its "Don't Fu[n]k Up Our Beats Rap Contest 5."
The contest, the label's fifth annual competition, gives aspiring rappers the opportunity to rap over selected beats from the Funk Volume vaults, with the opportunity win a range of prizes. The contest is currently open for submissions and will close on Sunday, March 10th at 11:59 PDT. Finalist voting will begin on March 11th and winners will be announced on March 31st.
There are few independent rap labels that have
amassed the sort of rabid, dedicated fans that Funk Volume has – and there are even fewer that give back to its fans like Funk Volume does. The label, home to Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton, SwizZz, DJ Hoppa
, and Hopsin
, who also co-founded the label alongside label manager Damien 'Dame' Ritter
has long since offered unique opportunities to truly bring their fans into the Funk Volume fold, and so, for Funk Volume, the "Don't Fu[n]k Up Our Beats Rap Contest" is just another great example. "For artists," says Ritter, "the contest is dope because it's essentially a microcosm of what it takes to be successful in the rap game today: dope music, dope visuals, and a grind to get your music in front of people. For us, it's a way to stay connected with artists and fans, and to spread our own brand."
To enter, contestants need to go to the Funk Volume contest page and purchase one of the featured contest beats. The contestant will then record a video of themselves rapping over the beat and will submit the video on Funk Volume's Facebook Fan Page before 11:59pm PDT on March 10th. On March 11th, Funk Volume will select 25 finalists, at which point voting will begin, with contestants encouraged to tell their fans, family, and friends to vote. Funk Volume will announce first, second, and third place winners on March 31st.
The grand prize winner for the contest will receive $2,500 and
the opportunity to open up for a Funk Volume show the next time one of the
label's artists is performing in the winner's city. The second place winner will
receive $1,000; the third place winner will take home $500.
